ICEHOTEL-Artwork on a frozen river

Humans have unlimited talent, imagination, and creativity. ICEHOTEl at Jukkasjärvi, Sweden, is one of the best examples of this creativity and imagination. This hotel was founded in 1989. It has 2 sections: One section is rebuilt every year in winters with natural ice while another section is known as ICEHOTEL365 which is available throughout the year.

Actually, ICEHOTEL is not a hotel but a display of the art of very creative artists around the world. The only difference is you can experience this creativity by staying there… and sleeping in one of the suites will take you into another world…it’s magical, thrilling and you will be in awe of these talented people and their artworks.

This is the only place or hotel in the world which is rebuilt every year by a different set of artists who wants to convert their imagination into reality by sculpting on Ice.

Every year many artists around the world send their ideas and artworks to the ICEHOTEL, very few of them get selected and get a chance to convert it into reality by creating ICE beds and rooms by sculpting ICE.

How Do They Get So Much ICE?

River Torne flows in Northern Sweden, and it is one of the sources of water in summers. In winters when the temperature drops below zero, river freezes. Tonnes of ICE blocks are cut and stored properly and are provided to artists for building ICEHotel. In those extreme weather condition, these passionate artists sit for multiple hours and convert their imagination into reality. So come visit this place and enjoy the creativity, silence and if lucky northern lights from this unique place on earth.
